He has special interests in education, teaching, and research. He is a peer reviewer in more than 20 journals, including top ophthalmology journals like the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the British Journal of Ophthalmology and the American Journal of Ophthalmology.
He is an associate editor in 3 journals like Eye Open, the official journal of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists.
He has over 200 published papers, most in Q1 journals. He has authored a book on the fundamentals of cataract surgery, officially announced on CataractCoach.com, and another titled Basic Foundational Notes to Operate Vitreoretinal Surgery, featured on RetinaRounds.com.
In addition, he serves as the lead editor of Robotic-Assisted Eye Surgery: Advances, Challenges, and Breakthroughs, published by Taylor & Francis, and co-authored a book on infectious agents in ophthalmology.
He presented abstracts and posters in highly prestigious local and international meetings, including ASCRS, ESCRS, AAO, EURETINA, ARVO, EVRS, ESO, APAO ...etc. He received many awards including The Young Scientest award by YU Alumni Club. He is an emerging vision scientist at Wilmer Eye Institute, Johns Hopkins Medicine. He launched a YouTube channel (http://www.youtube.com/@Dr.HashemAbuSerhan) to deliver different talks in ophthalmology.
