The AEA Photo Gallery 2025 is a visual celebration of the beauty, challenge, and complexity of ophthalmology. It invites Arab ophthalmologists, residents, fellows, and eye care professionals to submit their best ophthalmic photographs across a range of subspecialties.

Each participant may submit up to 3 high-quality ophthalmic images, which will be published on AEA’s official social media platforms and displayed in a dedicated exhibition zone during the Arab Eye Academy International Conference.

The photos will be open for online public engagement and onsite voting, and best photos will be announced at the Conference Closing Ceremony, with winners receiving valuable prizes and official recognition.

🗓️ Timeline:

  • 15 September, 2025 : Deadline for photo submissions
  • 1 October, 2025 : Start of publishing photos on AEA social media
  • 12 December, 2025 : Photos displayed at the exhibition area for voting
  • 12 December, 2025 (Closing Ceremony) : Announcement of winning photos in each category

Photo Categories:

Participants may choose one or more of the following categories:

  1. Cornea & Refractive
  2. Glaucoma & Neuro-Ophthalmology
  3. Retina & Uveitis
  4. Oculoplastics & Pediatric Ophthalmology
  5. Others (e.g., Cataract, anterior segment anomalies, surgical tools, training moments, etc.)

Evaluation Criteria:

  • Social Media Likes: 30%
  • Onsite Voting at the Exhibition Area: 30%
  • Expert Panel Evaluation (Image quality, relevance, uniqueness): 40%

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Open to all Arab ophthalmologists, residents, fellows, and allied eye care professionals.
  • Maximum of 3 photo submissions per participant.
  • Photos must be:
    • Original work by the participant.
    • High-resolution (minimum 1500×1500 pixels) and unedited except for cropping, contrast or brightness.
    • Accompanied by a brief caption or description (max 50 words).
    • Relevant to one of the predefined categories.
  • By submitting, participants agree to allow Arab Eye Academy to publish their photos on its platforms and use them for educational and promotional purposes (with credit to the photographer).
